Jill left college at sixteen, and went on to show up at both Chelsea Art School and Croydon Art School. Two many years later on, she completed her 1st novel The Worst Witch, about a minor witch who doesn’t match in at her new college – a story she states was heavily based mostly on her experiences at the convent. She sent it off to three huge London publishers, who all turned it down, and Jill “put it in a drawer and made a decision to focus on other things instead.” After a spell working as a nanny and in a children’s home, which she cherished, Jill had a cellphone phone from a little publisher interested in The Worst Witch. It was printed when she was 20-four, sold out almost quickly, and Jill realized for sure she desired to adhere to a career as an author/illustrator.
