Do you want your local bodega to begin selling fresh produce?
SAfH, GrowNYC and Red Jacket Orchards are looking to partner with Central Harlem Community Based Organizations to assist us in identifying 8 bodega/corner store locations that will be open to installing produce refrigeration units in their location.
The target area for this great initiative is Community Board 10 (east of St. Nicholas Avenue, north of 110th Street, south of 155th Street, west of 5th Avenue).

FRESH Bodegas Initiative
The Strategic Alliance for Health has partnered with GrowNYC and Red Jacket Orchards to test an innovative system for the distribution and sale of local produce in bodegas. Together, these three partners have developed an initiative called FRESH Bodegas. The project will provide Greenmarket Produce at Bodegas/Corner Stores. The initiative involves placing refrigerators marked with “FRESH Bodegas” logos for participating bodegas to stock Red Jacket Orchards vegetables, fruits, juices, plus additional fruits and vegetables from the Green Market wholesale farmers market. This model will give store owners the infrastructure to sell and maintain fresh produce the same way that they sell their other products.
