June 27th is National HIV Testing Day! Need to know the importance of getting in the “know zone” and where to get free testing in your neighborhood? Read more about it below!

1. HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is an autoimmune virus that causes AIDS. Many people with HIV don’t have any symptoms. The only way to know if you have HIV is to get tested.

2. More than 1.2 million people in the United States are living with HIV, and 1 in 8 people don’t know they have it. The good news is you can help change this by getting tested and spreading the word about National HIV Testing Day on June 27.

4. Getting tested is very important because it save lives. If you get a positive result you can get referrals to experts who will help you take care of yourself and protect your loved ones and partners.

5. If you are not able to visit one of the centers provided here, you may also visit  a doctor . Their office that can provide HIV testing, the price for HIV testing at private offices can range from $50-$200.
