Did you know…. 50,000 American youth are held in prisons on any given day?

When young people are taken away from their homes and put into prisons, they are more likely to abuse drugs, commit suicide, and suffer from mental illness. This hurts the young people being held, their families, as well as their communities. 

You can get involved in the National Week of Action Against Incarcerating Youth now through Sunday, May 21 by sharing your voice on why it is unhealthy for young people to be held in prisons. Here are some tips on how you can get involved:

 

(1) Get the word out

Start by using the following hashtags on social media: #NoYouthInPrison, #NoKidsInPrison, #BeyondBars. Click here to read more on using social media to join the action. 

(2) Attend an event

Join the Youth Justice New Jersey decarceration campaign meeting tomorrow!
