Project of the Month: Creative Accordion Book Boxes
Workshop participants will be invited to create accordion-book boxes, exploring identity and pride in who they are. Using simple folding techniques enhanced by optional complexity (additional folding, cutting, variations) and a combination of writing, drawing, and collage, each participant will create a personalized book object. Participants are invited to bring ephemera and scraps of photos and memorabilia in additional to materials supplied. Participants will also encounter contemporary book art works as inspiration for the relationship between text and image. Through artistic expression, participants will explore self and community in terms of points of pride and personality.
Art for Change’s Childrens Art Workshops are made possible in part with public funds from the Fund for Creative Communities, supported by New York State Council on the Arts and administered by Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
