Want a FRESH take on produce in Harlem?
Corbin Hill Farms provides access to high-quality, fresh fruits and vegetables grown by local farmers in upstate NY.
How does it work?Every Tuesday, seasonal fruits and vegetables fresh from the farm are delivered to convenient neighborhood pick-up sites in Harlem and the Bronx, such as at churches, schools, and community organizations. This local food is cheaper, more nutritious, and more environmentally-friendly than produce shipped from around the world, and is largely grown organically.
Who can join? The farm share is open to everyone! It is designed to meet the needs of its shareholders (or members) by offering affordable prices, flexible membership terms, and items that reflect the diverse cultures of Harlem and the Bronx.
Can I choose what’s in my share? You cannot pick what produce you get because the shares are based on what is available in season. There is a “Swap Box” at every pick-up location, so you can switch an item that you don’t want for another one. You also get to hand-pick each fruit or veggie from the selection, so you can choose the juiciest tomato, or the biggest cabbage. New recipes are given out at every pick-up, so don’t worry if you don’t already know how to make a delicious meal out of every item you get!
How can I join? You can sign-up online or fill out a paper membership form. Shareholders pay one week in advance. You decide each week whether or not you want to buy your share, so you are not locked-in! You can pay with cash, check, SNAP/EBT, or credit card. Northern Manhattan Perinatal Partnership (NMPP) hosts a pick-up site in Room 307 of the Dempsey Center at 127 W 127TH ST (between Lenox Ave & Adam Clayton Powell Blvd), every Tuesday, 12-3pm. Before joining, feel free to stop by during distribution to see what it's all about and sample something from our weekly recipe demo!
