Community Walk-through and Presentation on Pedestrian Safety

Editor December 6th, 2012
Start: December 6, 2012, 4:00 pm

The department of transportation will give a community walk-through of West 155th Street-Edgecombe Avenue-St. Nicholas Place-Harlem River Speedway to examine ways of alleviating pedestrian and traffic conflicts at this complex intersection.  The group will walk around the intersection to gain an understanding of how drivers behave, traffic functions, signals work, and pedestrians navigate the streets.

The site visit starts at 4pm at the triangle between Edgecombe Avenue and West 155th Street.  At 5pm, the group will then move inside to Wilson Major Morris Community Center at 459 West 152nd Street (between Amsterdam and St. Nicholas Avenues) for a short presentation by DOT planners on current traffic volumes and analysis, followed by small group discussions of what we saw and how it might work better.
