On Monday, January 30, 2012 the City’s Department of Homeless Services (DHS) will conduct its Homeless Outreach Population Estimate (HOPE). DHS needs thousands of volunteers to canvass parks, subways, and other public spaces to count the number of New Yorkers living unsheltered.

The office of Council Member Robert Jackson will come together as Team Jackson to participate in the count of homeless New Yorkers in Northern Manhattan. He is asking residents, community members and clergy to join his team of volunteers.

They will assemble promptly at 10:15pm at PS 128 (560 West 169th Street New York, NY) and receive an hour long training by DHS staff. The teams assembled at this site will  canvass the geographic area covered by the 30th, 33rd and 34th Police Precincts, from West 133rd Street to Inwood.

***Please note: volunteers that wish to participate must be 18 years or older.
