My Computer is Plotting to Kill me.

It is a sly little devil, that laptop of mine - the damn thing has already cost me one angioplasty (heart surgery) because of it and I'm pretty sure I will need weight loss surgery of some kind soon too. I'm addicted to it like a rock star on cocaine. Maybe I could sue Microsoft or Dell and charge that they are in a conspiracy with the health care industry. Maybe Google too. That damn thing keeps me glued to my chair, reading, blogging, but mostly getting fat and out of shape. I should be working out instead sitting here being assaulted by this cold-blooded killer. It's a vicious battle, the pounds keep piling on. I need a plan, a way to break free of the spell of this serial killer. Heeeelllllppppppp.......

Hi, Lincoln Builds! A couple weeks ago, Cesar posted a good comment to this article: http://www.gethealthyharlem.org/forum/working-out-budget. Cesar wrote: "I think walking is great for exercise on a budget. I also have been doing 'exercise' at my desk. I tighten my abs while I sit to pretend I am doing crunches(I hope it's doing something). Same with the derriere. Since my hip surgery, I think that exercise in particular is a good one. I also just stretch at random times during the day." Maybe you could try tightening your abs and butt while you're at your computer to get SOME exercise!
this is a great post. You are very right in identifying the problems with getting a laptop and staying connected for hours on the internet. One thing you can do is to shut your laptop (say leave it in your office) on friday evenings - that way you atleast dont use it over the weekend and can get out and get some sun on the beach, go for a run etc. Or you dont carry a power cable with you - that way your battery will do out in a few hours and then you wont have to use the laptop !
other options are 1. if you use gmail you can tell gmail to stop you accessing your email for 15 min intervals during the day 2. set a specific time to check emails - 3. take a break for 4-5 mins every 30 mins - this will also relax your eyes
