Mo’ better greens: A guide to healthy living. I love this new book!

A new book has come to my attention-- “By Any Greens Necessary: A Revolutionary Guide for Black Women Who Want to Eat Great, Get Healthy, Lose Weight, and Look Phat.”  It's by nutritionist Tracye McQuirter, a health and vegan activist in Washington, D.C.

In her book, she discusses each food group from her nutritional expertise, dispelling rumors that vegetarians don’t get enough protein, explaining the dangers of industrial farming and fishing, and promoting the benefits of fruits and vegetables. Although I don't believe everyone should follow a totally vegan lifestyle, we could all do with eating a more plant-based, whole foods diet... one that we choose, rather than the junk the food industry and Madison Avenue promotes .

As McQuirter points out, food isn’t just about health — it’s also about politics.  “What you eat is more political than personal,” she says in her book. “Government and giant corporations play a defining role in determining our food choices.”

Amen sister!
