Do you think that you have to spend a lot of money on gym memberships to get fit? How about on healthy food? Check out some helpful ways to improve your health without having to pay a lot!
Exercise outside instead of the gym!
You don't need a gym membership or fancy equipment to get healthy. Get your fitness on outdoors in one of Harlem's many parks and Recreation Centers. In addition to walking and running, many parks have jungle gyms for adults to do outdoor exercises, as well as pools.
Bring your own lunch to work!
Rather than ordering take-out with the rest of your co-workers, make extra food at dinner and wrap the leftovers up at night. Preparing your lunch in advance can help reduce stress and forgetfulness in the morning. You'll save money, and have a trimmer waistline by reducing the amount of fast food you eat.
Bottle your own water!
Instead of buying bottled water or unhealthy sugar-filled juices and sodas, carry your own reusable bottle and fill it with water. If you drink two bottles of water at $3.00/day, you will spend $1,095/year. Instead, purchase a metal or glass bottle and reuse it all year long-what will you do with that extra money??
Buy more fruits and vegetables!
When at the grocery store, super market, or better yet, the farmer's market or green markets, choose fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains instead of junk food. When you eat fresh fruits and vegetables, your body is satisfied sooner and with healthier food. New York City Greenmarkets are full of produce fresh from local farms and many of them take EBT cards
